20 years ago, my backcountry expedition almost ran out of food after a month in the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming. Luckily, we found a lost packet of brownie mix. That experience — the profound joy of chocolate in a moment of real need — ignited something deep inside me.
That spark grew into a passion that led me around the world, studying cacao traditions, sustainable farming, and the ancient art of chocolate making. I discovered that chocolate could be so much more than a sweet treat — it could be medicine, ceremony, and a force for good in the world.
Today, Mandala Naturals crafts chocolate unlike any other chocolate maker. We combine raw, stone-ground cacao with adaptogenic superherbs, creating formulations that nourish the body and elevate the spirit.

We stone grind our cacao at low temperatures for 72 hours, preserving the delicate nutrients, enzymes, and antioxidants that are destroyed by conventional high-heat processing. Every batch is handcrafted with intention.

Mandala Springs is 65 acres of forest, boulders, cliffs and streams surrounded by Pisgah National Forest in western North Carolina. Besides being home to our beloved Wildcraftory, Mandala Springs is being mindfully crafted into a Human Empowerment & Ecological Retreat Center, Biodiversity Conservation Reserve and Educational Forest Farm where we nurture wild plants that we use in our chocolate.
