Founder and sole owner of Mandala Naturals. Stone-grinder of single-origin Belize cacao, builder of the Mandala Craftory, and steward of a 67-acre regenerative forest farm in the Appalachian Mountains.
Rob Lenfestey is the founder of Mandala Chocolate, based in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. His journey began with a backcountry expedition in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming, where a lost packet of brownie mix sparked a lifelong passion for chocolate.
That single moment of unexpected joy in the wilderness planted a seed. Rob spent the following years traveling, studying cacao traditions from Mesoamerica to South America, learning about sustainable farming practices, and immersing himself in holistic nutrition. He discovered that cacao was far more than a confection — it was a sacred plant with profound health benefits and deep cultural significance.
After years of studying cacao traditions, sustainable farming, and holistic nutrition, Rob founded Mandala Naturals to create the most nutritious chocolate on the planet. His vision was clear: craft chocolate that honors ancient wisdom while delivering genuine health benefits, sourced ethically from communities who have been stewards of cacao for generations.
Rob's approach combines ancient wisdom with modern nutritional science
Based in the mountains of western North Carolina, drawing inspiration from the land and its ecosystems.
Committed to farming practices that heal the earth and nurture biodiversity.
Combining traditional cacao knowledge with modern nutritional science.
Building relationships with farmers, land stewards, and wellness communities worldwide.
Rob's vision extends beyond chocolate. Mandala Springs is 65 acres of forest, boulders, cliffs and streams surrounded by Pisgah National Forest in western North Carolina. This is where the Mandala Wildcraftory calls home — and where Rob is building something extraordinary.
The land is being mindfully developed into a Human Empowerment & Ecological Retreat Center, Biodiversity Conservation Reserve, and Educational Forest Farm. Here, wild plants used in Mandala chocolate are nurtured in their natural habitat, and visitors can experience the deep connection between land, food, and wellbeing.
